The fifth PATA forum has come to an end. Twenty-five weary but happy treatment teams headed home, heads packed with new ideas and hearts hopefully lighter, thanks to the opportunity of sharing their cares and concerns with colleagues.
Random conversations with delegates, invited speakers and our local partners from Wits ECHO are agreed that they have enjoyed quality time at this PATA Gauteng forum.
Presentations have been of the highest quality; discussion has been informed and passionate. Teams are coming away with a sense of accomplishment. Each team has set itself a set of quality improvement tasks and we look forward to reports on the progress they are making.
This forum has produced a rich harvest of training and educational tools from MSF, PHRU and TARSC. PATA will be creating a web page listing all available tools. This will be the start of a new resources project we hope to develop with the help of David Goetghebuer of MSF.
If the PATA website can serve as a storage venue for every resource we collect, this will save many organizations the trouble of reinventing these to meet their own needs.
The PATA steering committee is indebted to Melanie Evans (conductor of note), Jenny Watermeyer (presenter, data projector rescuer and master class leader), Vuyiswa Mboyi, Lil Hobbs, Natalie Renaud, Ashley Petersen and Lucia Fundisa Matshoba for their hard work, their efficiency and dedication. Without this team no-one would have enjoyed this seamless conference.
We thank our participants for their enthusiasm, which fuelled the process. We wish everyone safe journeys home and success with the tasks they have chosen.
