"HIV isn't treated with just pills, there is so much more. Children are not little adults...They may be dependant but medically, socially, spiritually each child has their own needs..." Dr Rory Wilson, Kiwoko Medical Director
In order to treat children we need to be able to communicate appropriately, this was the theme of the PATA Kiwoko Forum held in Uganda from 7-9 August 2011.
This forum engaged with inter-sectoral stakeholders from non-clinical contexts in order to assist Kiwoko to develop a more integrated approach to comprehensive paediatric HIV/AIDS care and treatment in their area.
The aims of this local forum were:
· To improve skills in dealing with caregivers
· To develop skills in communicating with children
· To share information
· To network with other clinical and social care providers involved in children's HIV care
The forum was a great success. Click here to download the full report.
