The PATA Effect!

The ripple effect of capacity building will save many more lives than any other way of support

PATA's approach to HIV/AIDS is vital and unique. We do not blind ourselves with the technologies / medical aspect of treatment but rather keep our focus on children, families and their treatment, providing a forum for the exploration of improved working practices and the value of networking. Instead of providing direct support to one or more treatment teams, PATA builds capacity to create a ripple effect to ensure the most effective and efficient way of training other professionals throughout the African continent.

The majority of HIV infected children in Africa are still faced with the deadly consequences of HIV AIDS. PATA's main objective is to extend and to improve the quality of comprehensive health care. It aims to give more children and their families access to lifesaving antiretroviral therapy through capacity building and providing support.

PATA membership currently comprises of over 75 treatment teams in 20 African countries. The number of children provided with care at PATA-affiliated sites grew from 250 to 10 000 between 2005 - 2007.

The ripple effect of capacity building will help save many more lives than any other way of support.

We need your support to help give these children a chance of a normal life. Please contact us today to support PATA as a volunteer or donor at info@teampata.org.
