Advocacy Officer & Assistant Project director for Paediatric Aids Treatment for Africa (PATA)
Paediatric Aids Treatment for Africa (PATA) is an NGO engaged in supporting multidisciplinary teams of health care workers to improve the quality of paediatric HIV care in Sub-Saharan Africa www.teampata.org
As part of the Campaign to End Paediatric Aids (CEPA), PATA is seeking to employ a full-time advocacy officer, on a fixed duration contract, to be based at our offices in Rosebank, Cape Town, commencing as soon as possible.. A competitive salary is negotiable.
The ideal candidate will have experience in advocacy work for other NGOs (preferably within the HIV field), managing projects independently and networking with a large number of people electronically. The candidate will be expected to have a thorough understanding of current issues in HIV and able to write literate and moving copy in support of a cause.
The candidate will be responsible for developing an advocacy strategy in conjunction with PATA and other partner organisations, for developing the reporting capacity of PATA-affiliated clinics, event planning and coordination, and website/ newsletter updating and maintenance.
The successful candidate will be expected to work closely with the project director and function in an assistant project director role within a growing team; gain a thorough understanding of all PATA projects and their objectives, and be responsible for their own administrative tasks, including filing, photocopying, word processing and computer filing systems.
To do so, the candidate will need to be highly organised, enterprising and focused, with the ability to forward-plan; be flexible, resourceful and able to work under pressure; and be able and prepared to travel within Sub-Saharan Africa.
Prerequisite skills include: Excellent written and verbal communication in English (and Portuguese too preferably), database management, including: Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access and web content management.

PATA is seeking to employ a part-time personal assistant to the project director on a fixed duration contract, to be based at our offices in Rosebank, Cape Town, commencing as soon as possible. A competitive salary is negotiable.
The ideal candidate will have proven experience in secretarial and administrative work, preferably within the NGO sector and must have good English writing skills. The successful candidate will be expected to work closely with the project director and will need to gain a thorough understanding of all PATA projects and their objectives, be in regular communication with PATA-affiliated clinics and be responsible for all office administrative tasks, including filing, record-keeping, photocopying, word processing and computer filing systems.
To do so, the candidate will need to be highly organised, systematic, and able to work under pressure and to deadlines.

Portuguese translator and interpreter for Paediatric Aids Treatment for Africa (PATA)

PATA is seeking to employ a part-time translator on a fixed duration contract, to be based at our offices in Rosebank, Cape Town, commencing 1 October 2009.
The ideal candidate will have excellent written and spoken English and Portuguese, access to their own internet connection and good computer literacy.. Candidates who have spent time living in Mozambique or Angola, and who have experience working within a health-related context, will be at an advantage.
The successful candidate will be expected to work closely with the project director and will need to gain a thorough understanding of all PATA projects and their objectives, and be in regular communication with PATA-affiliated clinics in Lusophone countries in Africa. To do so, the candidate will need to be highly organised, systematic, and able to work under pressure and to deadlines
